I’m seriously considering one of the last 5 once the truck sells.

I’ve never seen a Century Gran Sport before, not sure if I knew that was a thing.

I’d go with either the white or blue LeSabres, if you can get them down a bit.
But that 454 Regal for $1450 is pretty intriguing...

Pretty rare, although not that exciting.
BTW - I’m curious - how many miles can you get on 1 tank in your W212? I just got 500 on mine going back and forth to St. Louis, and I gotta think yours will go a hell of a lot further than that??

I’m mostly between the 455 Regal and the Century Grand Sport honestly.

Hmm. Well that’s true. I wonder how much my LeSabre is worth. Seems irrelevant, since I’d never consider selling it.

I recall seeing one about 15 yrs ago on the highway and being completely stoked about it.
I even went as far as buying my dad’s 93 Century 4 door to try to make a clone.
It would be a sweet car to own.

For some reason, that’s the one on the list that really caught my eye. If it is going to be a sunny day Sunday driver preservation piece, that may be the one - you’ll never find your twin at a show.

I’ve never pressed it, as I get range anxiety once I hit a quarter tank. But with a 21.1 gallon tank, and an easy 40 mpg on the highway even at 70, that gives at least an 840 mile range.

I could see that - - I just like the H bodies better than the A-bodies, personally, and $5k seems pricey for the Century.
The Regal could be a real hoot, though...

If I got something like that it would definitely be a spring/summer/fall cruiser only.
Same goes for if I come across a Turbo van.

I honestly don’t know. Prices on clean Centurys are up in the mid $3,000s now. I can see $5k for a clean, low mileage, rare variant. I’ve seen a few like this: https://milwaukee.craigslist.org/cto/d/1993-buick-century-custom/6688203307.html that haven’t lasted long on the market.
The Regal would be a riot, but I’m not sure a monster is what I really need in my life right now........

OK I can NOT wrap my head around that one. $8900 seems crazy to me.
The whole idea of a ‘93 Century being ‘collectible’ is beyond my grasp. That car was TEN YEARS OLD when it was brand new. It was probably GM’s most milquetoast offering in the entire lineup in 1993 (and certainly it was by 1996...)
That said, I guess I can see where the $5k for the Gran Sport is coming from though.

I’d never pay it for a Century custom and I love them. I would seriously consider it at $4k though.....

Yeah, I was thinking that your car would go pretty much forever on a tank, considering it’ll do a hell of a lot better than the 26 on the highway that I got.

They’re solid, comfortable cars, and pretty much dead reliable as I recall. Just not all that exciting- my opinion is a bit colored by the fact that they let that design get quite stale, building it with little change for 15 years.
Also, the one that was in our family was an Olds with the Iron Duke - the 3.3 hauled the car a lot better.

That’s still not bad for the hp. I could easily hit 25 mpg in my old E55 - tech sometimes advances slowly on some fronts.

Do it.
In your climate, that’s the only way one of these survives, no doubt.

I’m not complaining about the mileage, I was happy with 26 really. Surprised at the legs on the car, factoring in that big tank.
Mileage advances slowly because cars keep getting heavier and heavier, IMHO.

How does a car get so disgusting looking in 53k?
Especially one that’s “garage kept”?
Ding y interior with sagging headliner, mismatched paint, obvious rattle canned parts, dinge creeping out of seams, that shit doesn’t happen on a garage kept car in 53k.
I may still end up going to check it out though, I could get it cleaned up. That and ES’s are hard to find. Bet if I show up with mine and offer $1k for it they’d sell it.

They should have kept building it for another 10yrs IMO. The car that replaced it was utter garbage in every aspect. Sometimes if a design works you just stick with it.
We had a few 3.3L Centurys and one with the Iron Duke. The 3.3L with the 4 speed was the best combo IMO, it had great power, got great fuel economy, and was extremely quiet on the highway.
The 3.3L with the 3 speed had a very “racey” feel to it. 1st gear screamed out to around 55mph IIRC, then 2nd and 3rd were close ratio after that.
The ID was hilariously fun 0-40 though, it would spin the tires then scream it’s way to 40mph, then it would shift into 2nd and fall flat on it’s face.
The 3.3L seems to take well to some simple mods as well. A simple intake and full exhaust on our 1990 netted a decent feeling gain in power, with a tremendous economy boost. After installing those mods, we were able to crack 38.8 mpg cruising, and never dropped under 30 mpg after.

Good point about the weight. I think the Bluetec weighs about 500 lbs more than the E55. More amusing is that weighs 1000 lbs more than the fintail.

I just remember seeing it for sale when looking for cars for my brother in late February, to be fair there’s not a huge market for them but it’s a little bit of a red flag

I think priced just over “beater” territory, so no one’s biting.
At least that’d be my guess. There’s really not much that can be hidden on one of those IMO. If it runs/drives good and the rear mounts aren’t rotted, it’s pretty much good to go.

I really can’t do anything until the truck sells, so that’s the wrench in my plans at the moment.
